June Wrap - Up, Book Haul and July TBR

JUNE WRAP UP
I didn't read many books this month as I had lots of revision to do for exams but now they are all over! Anyway, I managed to complete two books and read half of another one.

The first book I completed was Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher. A friend lent me this book and although having a few attempts to start it, once I dove into it, I reads it within a day. This book follows Zoe, a girl with a guilty conscience and to try and calm it down, she begins to write letters to a murderer on death row. I gave this book 3.5 stars as I enjoyed the pace but thought some of the character traits were unrealistic. FULL KETCHUP CLOUDS REVIEW.

The next book I completed was The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski and I received this for review from Bloomsbury. The first in a trilogy, this book had a great plot and an exciting climax. It is full of royalty, duels, and romance with a brilliant military edge. I gave this book 4 stars as I enjoyed how many genres were incorporated. FULL WINNER'S CURSE REVIEW.

I am also half way through Winger by Andrew Smith and it started off slow but I am now enjoying the witty writing. I will be finishing this book at the beginning of July.

BOOK HAUL
I downloaded twelve ebooks for my Kindle as I have become fond of it recently. Of the twelve books, nine were free and you can see them all in my Kindle Freebies #6 post.

Then other three books I purchased were books I have been eyeing for a while and were available for fantastic prices on Amazon. First is We Were Liars by E. Lockhart which has been massive among book bloggers and booktubers and I managed to grab it for only £1.89. Also, I got the Savages by Matt Whyman which I spotted a long time ago in a magazine and then found for only £1.85. The last book I got was inspired by my interest in becoming a doctor and is called In Stitches: The Highs and Lows of Life as an A&E Doctor by Nick Edwards which I managed to get for £0.99.

Speaking of Kindles, I also brought a new case for my Kindle Keyboard which surpirisingly is very hard to do as this model of the Kindle has been discontinued so there are little cases available. However, I did buy this beautiful one from Freckles and Gilbert.

Furthermore, @YoungWritersCW hosted a giveaway on Twitter which amazingly, I won and was therefore sent a copy of Secret Agent Mummy by Steve Cole.

For this month, I received four books from publishers for review. Firstly, from Hodder (Books with Bite), I received The 100 Society by Carla Spradbery and The Witch of Salt and Storm by Kendall Kulper. These are both uncorrected proofs and I am very excited to read both of these. Also, from Bloomsbury, I received a finished copy of Take Back the Skies by Lucy Saxon, a YA science fiction novel. Moreover, I got Stay where you are and then Leave by John Boyne from Guardian as part of their First World War Centenary celebration.

I also received a copy of Me, Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews from the fabulous Ellen from Astrid the Bookworm as I sent her an extra copy of The Winner's Curse. I am so excited to read this and unbelievably grateful for her sending this to me.

JULY TBR
July is holiday month so I will be reading lots more books than usually. I don't include review books in TBRs but just other books. I also only mention a few books as the books I read usually depend on the mood I am in. So, here are five books I am planning to read as a minimum:
  1. Finish Winger by Andrew Smith
  2. A New York Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin
  3. We Were Liars by E Lockhart
  4. The Statistical Probability of love at first sight by Jennifer E Smith
  5. The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer
