It's Battle of the Books!
One of the reasons I chose this book was due to the fact that the blurb reminded me a bit of Lord of the Flies by William Golding. As I am currently reading this for school, I thought I would read it to compare. After finishing it, here are some similarities/differences I discovered:
- ADDICTION – Those on the island are addicted to drugs and this takes over their life. In LOTF, Jack becomes addicted to hunting and soon that takes over him.
- FRIENDSHIPS – In LOTF, a friendship is formed between Ralph and Piggy and a friendship is also formed between Ginger and Kenny in Bait.
- DEATH – Don’t want to give any spoilers.
- EVIL – Evil is shown in LOTF through the boys’ savagery and in Bait, the evil is shown through those on the yacht.
- FEAR – In LOTF, the boys become fearful of ‘The Beast’ and in Bait they are scared of the sharks.
- ISLAND – This is an obvious one. Both groups are stranded on an island.
