Ultimate Book Tag

Here it is ladies and gentlemen, created by Chapter Chicks, here is the Ultimate Book tag!

1) Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Yes I do which is really annoying as I think it is prime time to read!

2) Which author's writing style is completely unique to you?

There isn't one author that particularly stands out for me but recently I read This Raging Light by Estelle Laure and I loved the writing style of this.

3) Harry Potter series or Twilight Saga?

I love them both for different reasons - it's so hard to chose. Can I say both?

4) Do you carry a book bag? If so, what's in it (besides books)?

I don't carry a particular book bag but I always have a book in my bag. When it comes to other things in it, I always carry my eos lip balm.

5) Do you smell your books?

6) Books with or without little illustrations?

I like illustrations at the beginning of each chapter and extras such as maps but not in the middle of text. I do however love reading books made of different media (letters, emails, texts etc).

7) What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing?

There's not really any I can think of to be honest. I don't tend to be picky about quality of writing, mainly just the plot and characters.

8) Do you have any funny stories about books in your childhood?

I remember being on holiday at the age of around 7 with my brother nagging me to go snorkelling with him and I made him wait until I finished my book!

9) What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

Heartbeat by Sharon Creech maybe?

10) What is he thickest book on your shelf?

Breaking Dawn y Stephanie Meyer

11) Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself as being an author in the future?

I have a few plot ideas on the go but they never really develop too far, just stay on my Laptop until I feel inspired. I don't see myself as a full time author but would love to have a book published.

12) When did you get into reading?

I have been reading as long as I can remember honestly.

13) What is your favourite classic book?

Charlotte's Web by E B White

14) In school was your best subject English?

I really enjoyed it and got good grades in it but I would say I am stronger at maths and sciences.

15) If you were given a book as a present that you had read and hated before, what would you do?

I would accept it very gratefully and possibly wait a few weeks and then pass it on to either a charity, local library or someone else who may like it.

16) What is a lesser known series you know of similar to Harry Potter?

The School for Good and Evil series by Soman Chainani

17) What is a bad habit you do whilst filming?

I have attempted to do a few videos but they fail mostly because of poor wuality and VERY BAD editing.

18) What is your favourite word?

Inspire

19) Are you a nerd, dork or dweeb?

ALL OF THE ABOVE!

20) Vampires or fairies?

Vampires all the way! You can live forever! Just think of all the books you can read and places you can visit!

21) Shapeshifters or angels?

I haven't read much about either of them but I would say angels as they are the link to heaven and any lost ones.

22) Spirits or werewolves?

Werewolves - they're cuddly!

23) Zombies or vampires?

VAMPIRES! See above reasoning!

24) Love triangle or forbidden love?

Love triangle as I love a good Team Edward/ Team Jacob debate. Though I'd rather miss out the angst.

25) Full on romance or action packed?

Romance all the way - I'm a softie at heart!

Disney Book Tag

This book tag originally started on Booktube and was created by the lovely Kat at Katytastic and has been adapted for book bloggers as well! I was tagged by the fabulous Tyler-Rose at The Reading Pile so definitely go and check her out! 

The Little Mermaid - a character who is out of their element; a 'fish out of water'.

For this I have chosen Agatha from The School for Good and Evil. This is because she is not only new to the idea of the two schools but is also placed in the school she least expects with people she is very different to.

Cinderella - a character who goes through a major transformation.

Jem from Undone by Cat Clarke undergoes a very big transformation both physically and mentally throughout this book; some for the better and some for the worse.

Snow White - a book with an eclectic cast of characters.
Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott has a fantastic array of characters from the contestants within the race to their incredibly cute Pandoras!

Sleeping Beauty - a book that put you to sleep.

I think whenever a disliked book is mentioned I always bring up Winger by Andrew Smith. Unfortunately, I thought this book was really boring and nothing happened so it did put me to sleep. 

The Lion King - a character who has something traumatic happen to them in their 

childhood.
For this one, I am going to chose Willow Chance from Counting by 7s. She hasn't had the best start in life for a number of reasons and this novel captures beautifully the process of her grief.

Beauty and the Beast - a beast of a book that you were intimidated by but found the story to be beautiful.
This one, ironically, is Beautiful Creatures, book one in the Caster Chronicles. The sheer size of it at first made me hesitant to read it but I am so glad I did!

Aladdin - a character who gets their wish granted for better or for worse.

In Love, Rosie by Cecilia Ahern, both Alex and Rosie have their wish granted ........... after many many years!

Mulan - a character who pretends to be someone/something they are not.
In She is not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick, Laureth is visually impairs but on her adventures, she does her best to portray she isn't.

Toy Story - a book with characters you wish would come to life.
I am not going to go with the obvious Harry Potter that I think a lot of people will say. For this I will say the cast of The Selection trilogy by Keira Cass because well, Maxon.

Disney Descendants - your favourite villain.
My favourite genre to read in contemporaries, especially realistic ones and some of my recent favourites seem to include some sort of illness or personal issue. So, in the context of contemporaries, my favourite villain to read about is illness.

'This Or That' Book Tag

This is a tag that originally started on Booktube but I found the blogger's version at Lauren Reads YA.

Physical Book or eBook?
I prefer to have a physical book so you can see how far you have progressed but if I am in a reading slump I usually find reading on my Kindle helps.

Audio or Book in Hand?
Definitely book in hand - I think audio books are too slow and too expensive!

Paperback or Hardcover?
Paperback - it means I can buy more as they are cheaper and fit more on my shelves! Also, they are easier to read and more practical to carry around.

Adult or Young Adult?
Young Adult.

Series or Standalone?
Standalone - more worlds, more characters and more authors to explore.

Dog ears or Bookmarks?
Bookmarks.

Borrow or Buy?
I always buy books as I like to have a copy to myself. However, if a friend is recommending me a book I will usually borrow their copy.

Bookstore or Online?
I use a mix of these. I prefer bookstores to have a browse and discover new books but if I know exactly which book I want to buy I will go for online as it is cheaper.

Fiction or non - fiction?
Both but mostly fiction for pleasure. I do enjoy reading non fiction but I only really read it if it is related to my courses I am studying.

Fantasy World or real life issues?
Real life - I like to be able to relate to the character's situations. However, I do like fantasizing about living in other worlds but tend to find fantasy books harder to get into.

Kindle, iPad or other?
If I know exactly which book to read it will be straight to my Kindle Keyboard. If I am unsure what to read, I will look through on my tablet so I can see all the covers easier and then either read it on there or read the book on my Kindle.

Monster read or short and sweet?
Short and sweet - again more things to explore and experience.

Starry eyed romance or full of action?
I love a good romance story but only if there is enough action to keep the plot moving. Is that cheating?

Curl up in a snuggie or bathe in the sun?
The sun! When I am on holiday, I will fly through books! Good job we have Kindles otherwise me suitcase would be way over the weight allowance!

Read the review or decide for yourself?
I only ever read reviews after I have read the book to see if I have similar thoughts and feelings to others but I will never read them before.

Zombies or Unicorns?
Unicorns obviously!!
