Set in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Verbier, the winter playground of the rich and famous, Confessions of a Chalet Girl is a fun and flirty contemporary romance novella from the fabulous Lorraine Wilson.

The slopes seriously start to heat up when chalet girl Holly is propositioned by her sexy new boss!

MY THOUGHTS:

I'm going to be perfectly honest here and say I was only interested in this book because it was free. I downloaded it after featuring it on my Kindle Freebies #7 post and it spent a total of 2 hours on my Kindle until I dived in to begin it!

This novel wouldn't necessarily be classed as a short story or novella but it is a small book with only about 100 pages. It is set in the Swiss mountains and features the new chalet girl Holly and her connection with boss Scott. I would like to state at this point that this book is more mature than I expected. There are very intimate scenes which I did skip in parts which I feel are not vital to the novel and made me feel uncomfortable.

However, for a 'short story', there was a lot of depth and detail added to it. I am often put off by short stories as I think that they are not detailed enough for me to become connected to them but with this I found the opposite. The characters are likable and you can really understand their motives throughout the plot. The background provided for them was just enough to encourage empathy but not too much to overpower the story. I also very much fancied Scott!

Overall, a quick and fun read which exceeded my expectations for a novel of this size! Not so keen on the saucy bits though (personal preference).

Set in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Verbier, the winter playground of the rich and famous, Secrets of a Chalet Girl is the second book in Lorraine Wilson’s fabulous Ski Season series.

MY THOUGHTS:
After enjoying the first novel, I instantly purchased the second for a mere £0.62. I was looking forward to another quick read that will just make me feel happy and get me into some romance books. Once I began reading it, I quickly became very disappointed in this book and got a completely different vibe than the first.

The good points of this book were the same as the first in the series and relate to the writing of the novel. After realizing this, I just simply put it down to liking the style of writing Lorraine Wilson has so I would like to read any other books she has written (not in this genre).

There are two main reasons why I did not like this book. Firstly, was the repetitiveness. Secrets of a Chalet Girl follows the same plot structure as the first but with just different characters. It involves the new girl and an authoritative figure falling in love at first sight and then having relationship troubles based around their rocky background. As a basic plot structure, I could ignore the simplicity within the first book but when it is used again in the SAME SERIES, I began to dislike it. I felt like I had already read the book and the ending was predictable as it mirrored the first ending. I guess you could say it is an advantage as you could read the books individually and not as a series but I would rather follow the same few characters and their story.

Also, the mature content within the second book was way too much. It became annoying and there was no need for any of it let alone the abundance of it. I acknowledge that it is a romance book and that the first one had it and I should have expected it but I felt like I only read half of the book because the rest was just pointless saucy scenes which were too awkward to read. Don't necessarily take this as it meaning the book is awful I just really don't like that sort of thing so it wasn't for me. I don't think I will be carrying on with the rest of the series.
