So, 2014 has come to an end and upon reflection although I didn't read as many books as planned, the ones I have read were some of my now all time favourites.
Originally, I set my Goodreads challenge at 52 books in parallel to my reading resolution to read a book a week. However, after an excellent start to the year, I bumped it up only slightly to the round figure of 60. This was all going well until my exam season began. In the summer of this year, I took my GCSEs and as I found out in August, I was successful in them. I am overjoyed by my achievements but despite this, it did have some negative effects on my reading progression. Combined with the settling in process of A levels, my exams ensured that I had less time to read. Consequently, I only read a total of 35 books this year - the lowest end of year total for quite some time.
Despite this, I read some fantastic book in 2014. Most of the ones I read were books which have had lots of hype online and I was late joining the fandom. Here are my top 10 books of 2014 (In no order):
*Anna and the French Kiss my Stephanie Perkins
*Paper Towns by John Green
*Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
*We were Liars by E Lockhart
*Where Rainbows end by Ceclia Ahern
*Half Bad by Sally Green
*Divergent by Veronica Roth
*Insurgent by Veronica Roth
*Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott
*This Star won't go Out by Esther Earl
Also, in January, I attended my first blogger event that Hachette headquarters London to see the launch of the new Books with Bite website. I know I didn't make a post bout this event at the time but it was because I had issues with internet but I had a fantastic time! I got a great insight into the publishing industry as well as getting my hand on some great proofs! I also met some fabulous people there - fellow bloggers with far more experience than I and willing to provide me with some advice. Some fabulous authors also attended including one of my favourites Teri Terry who signed and advanced copy of Shattered - the finale in the Slated trilogy. Overall, a real highlight of my year and I hope it's the first of many.
Another highlight of my year was the release of the fabulous The Fault in Our Stars film! One of my favourite books for a while and now one of my favourite films - June 19th 2014 is a date I will never forget! Other great films released this year that I must mention include Divergent, Mocking Jay and Love Rosie.
I acknowledge that my blog was slightly neglected this year and for that I sincerely apologise. After an insight in what may cone for me, I am determined to put all my efforts into it this year! Not just more reviews poseted but also blog posts like this updating you on my general reading life. In addition, I am in the process of creating a YouTube channel in the name of books - so keep your eyes for that! Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year and I hope you have a fabulous 2015! Please tell me in the comments what books you have read this year!
Happy Reading!
Millie
