Origami Love Heart Bookmarks

I love bookmarks and when I found a tutorial on the internet to make these amazing heart corner bookmarks, I just couldn't resist!

Here's a step by step picture guide of how I made these awesome bookmarks!

1) Grab a normal A4 piece of paper and a pair of scissors. The paper can be an design or colour but if the design is one sided, make sure the pattern is facing down.

2) Firstly, you need to get a square piece of paper so fold the bottom corner up to meet the opposite edge. This will form a triangle and a rectangle at the top.

3) Then, cut off the rectangle at the top and unfold the remaining piece. As a result, you should get a rectangle and a square. (If you already have a square piece of origami paper you will need to skip the steps above).

4) Fold the square in half and then cut it into two separate pieces of rectangular paper of equal sizes. Each one of these pieces will make a bookmark. (Don't worry about the creases, they are just imprints from previous steps but will be unseen on the finished product.)

5) If there is a patterned paper you would like to use and it is not A4 sized, complete the first steps with a scrap piece of paper and then use the rectangle as a template. I made a variety of bookmarks from different patterns using things such as wrapping paper and pages from old books.

6) Fold the rectangular paper in half so the bottom side meets the top side.

7) Next, fold the rectangle in half the other way and then unfold it.

8) Fold both sides in to meet the center crease.

9) Once both sides have been folded, flip the paper over.

10) Fold about a a third of the paper over at the top to make two flaps.

11) Then, fold the corners of each flap over to make the shape of the heart.

12) Flip over your paper to see your complete corner heart bookmark!

13) For an even tidier finish, try securing the back flaps down with little bits of double sided sticky tape.

14) Find a great book and enjoy your fantastic corner heart bookmark!
