#Anti - Bullying Readathon

I can speak from experience when I say, bullying sucks. You didn't me to tell you that; it's common knowledge. But I don't think you can really appreciate its lasting effect on peoples lives until you have lived it and struggled through it.  Lets make it so no one has to struggle through it.

Despite the fun, laughter and love of my childhood, there is a sizeable chunk of my childhood years dominated by the effects of bullying. The constant anger hurt and loneliness ate away at every day life. However, I had a light at the end of the tunnel ...... books. One of the books I remember reading during this time was Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson, the touching story of a young girl, whom like me, was bullied. Just this little glimpse of hope made it all that bit easier.

November 16th - November 22nd is Anti - Bullying Week; aimed to prevent anyone else having to go through what I and millions of others did. To raise awareness for this, Sarah Churchill is hosting an Anti Bullying Readathon running the same week. You can check out here initial video here or the Goodreads group here. The readathon involves you dedicating a week of your reading to books involving the issues of bullying. My TBR for the week's readathon may be small but I am still very excited!

1) Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson - the story that helped me through it all.
2) Tease by Amanda Maciel
3) Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

I hope you join us by making a stand against bullying and take a week to appreciate the importance of bullying in YA literature. Here are a few of my books dealing with bullying recommendations:
