World Blindness Awareness Month was created by The Little Rock Foundation, a charity aimed at supporting young people who are blind. It runs through all of October and raises awareness for those who are blind or partially sighted.
Reading is a fantastic thing and thanks to Braille and new advances in technology, those who are partially sighted can enjoy it as well. Reading can also be great at raising awareness for issues and help develop understanding. I recently read She is Not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick, a book about a young blind girl; you can read my review here. Here are some books with blind characters that I think will be great to read!

Very cool! I remember reading a novelization of Helen Keller's life and being amazed when I got an immersive narrative style that did such a good job of forcing me to think about how radically different life would be. My boyfriend is color-blind, and it is amazing how even just having trouble differentiating between red and green can impact a life...let alone total blindness!
