Why am I abandoning my Goodreads challenge?
18/50 books read in my 2015 challenge. 22 books behind schedule. I'm not giving up. But I am abandoning the challenge and here's why.
Goodreads challenges are a fantastic way to set goals, push yourself to read more and see how others are doing. However, for a college students, juggling A Levels with reading, a Goodreads challenge is a niggle at the back of your mind and a reminder that you just don't have enough time!
Through this past year, I have really been struggling to read anything but textbooks! Although I am still knocking books off my TBR, I haven't been reading as much as I used to. As a result, my Goodreads challenge has been suffering and the pressure has been making me do some different things. I have been giving up on books if they are too slow to get into and purposefully choosing small books to read quickly. I don't like that! I like to be able to chose a book to read because I want to and not because it is going to help me complete my challenge. My decision to abandon the challenge is to remove that pressure.
And that folks, is why I am abandoning my Goodreads challenge.

Hey, so it goes! As long as you keep reading, you're never really defeated :) Reading should never feel like a chore or come with pressure...so however you get the most fun, enjoyable reading done, that's the way to do it. I can relate to wanting the structure and challenge of something to push me forward...but sometimes it just backfires and makes everything feel more intense. Happy reading, Goodreads challenge or not, and happy studying too...school is important too XD
