BOOK 1
Wins of Arian
by Devri Walls
Series: Solus #1
Published: April 24th 2012

Synopsis:
Kiora thought she had never heard a lie until she was sixteen. But she was wrong. Her entire existence was based on nothing but. She thought that evil did not exist. Lie. That magic was not real. Lie. And that the land of Meros was all there was. One more lie.

With Aleric telling her that evil is knocking on the door and that she is the only one who can stop them she has a choice to make. Refuse, or start the wildest most painful ride of her life.
She reluctantly dips her toe into her new existence of magic and threads, dragons and shapeshifters, and the person who wants to take control of it all: the evil Dralazar.

However, this journey was never meant to be hers alone. She will be accompanied by a Protector. To her disbelief, and utter irritation they name the hotheaded, stubborn, non -magical, (albeit gorgeous) Prince Emane. They will have to trust each other with their lives, but right now Kiora would settle for a non hostile conversation.

And now it comes down to this, If you had never heard a lie, would you know when you heard one? Is knowing good from evil innate? Kiora finds herself having to decide who lives and who dies on those very questions.

by Devri Walls
Series: Solus #2

Kiora is rapidly learning that evil and lies come in shades of black and white and swirling greys, but nothing could have prepared her for the shock of leaving Meros.

Good has been forced into hiding for its own survival, while the rest of the land bows to the Shadow, a force that pushes any remaining thoughts of Dralazar from Kiora’s mind. This land is full of new creatures, each more dangerous than the last. Her visions have taken on a deadly twist, and magic, or what comes of it, was never so real. And then there is Alcander: a Tavean, their guide, and an entirely different kind of trouble.

Kiora needs answers. Who is the Shadow? Who is Jasmine? Are they connected? And even more pressing: how can she stop Shadow from using Kiora’s dreams as a map to find them? They have escaped three times, but are living on borrowed time—and everybody knows it.

Her search for help will push her closer to Alcander, send her to the dragon mountain of Toopai, and straight back to Meros—where magic will finally return to the land of no magic. Answers will be uncovered and plans unearthed that have been waiting for thousands of years.

But with the Shadow’s forces gathering, it looks like the land’s path is hurtling towards one outcome: war with the Shadow and death to all rebels. Armed with knowledge and hope, Kiora is determined to change that path. But will fate allow it? Or will it deal her a hard lesson about following ones own destiny?

INTERVIEW
1) Where do you write?   It depends what stage I am in, but it always involves comfortable furniture and never a table or desk. For the rough I find a big comfy chair or chaise at a coffee shop and plug in my headphones. The edits at home take place on my couches, because I need it quiet and I am usually talking to myself. ;)
2) Did you want to be an author when you were younger? No. Writing was never on the radar for me. I was actually trained as a singer and got my degree in theater. Writing came out of nowhere, but I am glad it did.
3) What inspired you to write? A sweet lady told me I should because I could read really fast. HA! I laughed. But then for the next few weeks the thought would not leave my head. So, I resigned myself to try, if for no other reason than to get the voice to stop pestering me! I shouldn’t admit these things.
4) How did you feel when you saw your book in a shop for the first time? I was super excited for about 30 seconds. Then I was so nervous I thought I was going to throw-up.
5) What/who inspires you to write? Everything. I am an observer. Every sunset, every wave, every interaction I observe sears itself in my mind waiting to be used somewhere, sometime. When we drive my husband watches signs and directions, I watch the trees.
6) If you could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be? Nelson Mandela. What an inspirational man.
7) Do you think Book covers are important or should you never judge a book by it's cover? Of course we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but we all do. So, yes! Book covers are SO important.
8) Books or ebooks? If I am going to love it, book. If I am unsure, e-book, then paperback if I love it.
9) How long does it take you to write a book? I can get a rough draft done in 4 to 6 weeks. But then I have to edit, and edit, and… sigh.
10) Any tips for people who want to be an author?  There are so many things you need to know but here are two quick tips. One, you can do this! And two, no matter how amazing your book is someone is going to hate it. It’s life, be prepared. People hate Harry Potter for crying out loud.
11) What is your favorite book? I am so moody, favorites are hard for me. I really love the Mortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare. But, if you ask me tomorrow the answer may be different.
12) What is your favorite thing about being an author? I love being able to create! It is such a release for me to be able to write and do whatever I want within the realms of my story.
13) Are there any new books in the pipeline? Yes. First up will be another fantasy. This one will by much darker than the Solus Series and have an overall different feel. After that I have some paranormal ideas rolling around in this head of mine.
14) Are there any alternative endings you considered for any of your books? I always consider different outcomes to anything I write in order to decide what feels the most real. Just because I conceived something at the beginning doesn’t mean I can’t alter it later. Sometimes the story takes me in a very different direction so I try to keep an open mind.
