I also had the opportunity to ask Dan Wells, author of the Partials series more questions we want to know the answers to!
Where do you write?
I have an office in my house, with a little desk covered with cords and papers and books. I use a laptop for editing, but all of my actual writing is done on a tablet with a bluetooth keyboard.
What/who inspires you to write?
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be?
King Jong Un, because come on--that guy's gotta have the weirdest life ever. I would love to figure out how his mind works.
Any tips for people who want to be an author?
It's harder than you think, but ever more awesome than you expect. Work hard and don't give up and don't slave yourself to the mountain of "writing rules" and advice that's all over the Internet--it's okay to study that stuff, just don't take it as gospel. Tell a great story that you love, in a way that makes you happy, and then do it again and again and again and again until you're really good at it.
What is your favourite book?
Dune, by Frank Herbert
Are there any new books in the pipeline?
I'm currently working on the third Partials book, and after that...i have too many new ideas to even know where to start listing them:)
Why do you write teenage books in particular?
I don't write for teens or adults, really, I just write whatever I think is awesome, and sometimes it comes out as a YA book and sometimes it comes out as something else. I figure as long as I love it, someone else out there is going to love it too.

What/who inspires you to write?
The entire world inspires me to write--everything I do, everything I read, every show I watch or news story I hear about. The world is amazingly interesting, and all I ever want to do is put my own little stamp on it. If I wasn't a professional author, I'd still be writing in my free time because it's what I love to do.
